Instagram: A Visual Journey

I have blogged in the past about my love for Instagram and after reading a post by fellow San Franciscoan, Anne Sage, I started thinking about what makes the platform so successful. The appeal for me is the simple creation of a visual diary logging my journey through the everyday.

Here are a few recent snapshots from my "diary"...

Instagram + Ink361 Snapshots of Life as it Happens...

Fort Funston (dog heaven)

Living in a new city feels a little like traveling because everywhere you go is like a new adventure. I have been a total tourist in San Francisco, snapping photos left and right.

Blue Skies Ahead {road trip - part 5 - madison}

This was my second visit to the charming little city that is Madison, Wisconsin. The city is home to the Westye Group where Wolf and Sub-Zero is sold, I visited the facility during my previous visit. It is also home to one of Frank Lloyd Wrights first silver level LEED certified convention centers, Monona Terrace.

Blue Skies Ahead {road trip - part 4 - chicago}

Only having two hours to spare, I didn't have much time to experience all the gloriousness that is Chicago.  My initial impression of the city it that it seems to have a hard shell that needs to be broken through to get to know all of the wonderful stuff tucked away inside.

A certain amount of opposition is a great help to a man. Kites rise against, not with, the wind.

Present Tense {quote + photo = inspiration}

"Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come... The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present - and I don't want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future."
- Audrey Hepburn

Blue Skies Ahead {road trip - part 3 - indianapolis}

Home of the Colts, Hoosiers, the Indy 500, and the Gary Indiana song from Music Man was pretty much all I knew about Indiana before my visit. We arrived in Lexington KY at 11 PM to find that our visit coincided with the Kentucky Derby.

Let Go {quote + photo = inspiration}

“The key to change... is to let go of fear.”
-Rosanne Cash

Change can be very hard. More times than not, it is not how you pictured or imagined. We worry so much and 9 times out of 10 things turn out better than we could have chosen for ourselves. After a long 4 years of change, in all arenas of my life, I am starting in a new chapter in a loft and this is my new view (I couldn't ask for more). What I have discovered is life has a way of surprising us if we let go.

Blue Skies Ahead {road trip - part 2 - nashville}

Welcome to part 2 of a 7 part series of my recent road trip.

We pulled into Nashville at dusk. The patios downtown were filled with people casually lounging. The expected blue jean skirts, boots, and cowboy hats were prominent.

Eyes Open {quote + photo = inspiration}

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
– St. Augustine

I leave tomorrow morning for London, Paris, and Normandy - I am giddy with excitement!!

I have worked out itineraries from personal recommendations, books, and of course the handy little internet. I look forward to coming back renewed and inspired.

Creativity {image + quote = inspiration}

Creativity comes from trust. Trust your instincts.
And never hope more than you work.
- Rita Mae Brown

Sometimes going the less traveled way in life can be incredibly scary. But you just might just find something amazing around that corner, so maybe it's time to take the unfamiliar route.

We would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to all of you for your patience while we take time to repair posts and focus on things outside of Wonderlust. Be on the lookout this week for part 2 of our roadtrip series.

Hammer & Iron {image + quote = inspiration}

“Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation...
even so does inaction sap the vigour of the mind.”
Leonardo da Vinci

“I have a hammer! I can put things together! I can knock things apart!
I can alter my environment at will and make an incredible din all the while!”
Bill Watterson

“If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.”
Abraham Maslow

Be Ignited.

P.S. The above photo was taken while I was in my back yard trying to figure out a setting on my camera for an assignment. I had a problem and I nailed it!

Sand & Castle

I first met destination wedding photographer Michelle Castle during my recent trip to Florida for my friend Emily's wedding.  I love the passion and spontaneity Michelle captures in her photographs. Every wedding featured on her blog looks like an incredible celebration of love.

Westside Walk

Jona recently spent an afternoon photographing the Westside Provision District (part of the larger West Midtown Design District). WSPD is home to on-trend home design resources, art galleries, and variety culinary experiences.

If you are looking for something to make your mouth water check out JCT Kitchen, Bacchanalia, or Miller Union. For something that doesn't hit your wallet as hard there is West Egg, Star Provisions, or Taqueria del Sol.

{A Quick Glimpse} Photo Shoot with Michelle Landreau

We recently took over a grassy knoll in Piedmont Park for a whimsical photoshoot with local Morning Light (ml x ml) photographer Michelle Landreau.  Michelle's photography is simply stunning, capturing the right light whether it's morning, afternoon, or early evening.

Here are a couple preview shots of what is to come...
