Home of the Colts, Hoosiers, the Indy 500, and the Gary Indiana song from Music Man was pretty much all I knew about Indiana before my visit. We arrived in Lexington KY at 11 PM to find that our visit coincided with the Kentucky Derby.
The Derby and a computer glitch resulted in an overbooked hotel and we were sent to stay somewhere else. It was quite a distance away in Indianapolis and we did not arrive until 3 AM. The misfortune turned out to be in our favor when we realized we were staying in a two bedroom suite and in the bulls-eye of the city at no additional cost.

Indiana War Memorial Plaza
Soldiers and Sailors Monument
Scottish Rite Cathedral
American Legion Mall
We came in late the night before and we woke up to a lovely view of the American Legion Mall. We were not able to get much sleep the night before but awoke excited to get on the road to see Chicago later that day.
